CME Inauguration

The CME programme was inaugurated by Dr K. Madeswaran, Chairman and Managing Director of Royal Care Super Speciality Hospitals Private Limited. He was joined by distinguished dignitaries, including critical care stalwart Dr Ram E. Rajagopalan, Dr Mathew Joseph, former Professor and Head of the Neurocritical Care Unit at Christian Medical College, Vellore, Dr.Paranthaman Sethupathy, Medical Director, Dr.Mani Senthil, Chief Operating Officer and Dr M.N. Sivakumar, Head of the Institute of Critical Care Medicine at Royal Care Super Speciality Hospital.

CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION (CME) PROGRAMME

The CME programme was held on the 12th of July 2026, as the third day of RCH ICU Update 2026 at Le Meridien, Neelambur, Coimbatore The scientific programme included didactic lectures, interactive case discussions, panel discussions and question and answer sessions. The sessions were thoughtfully designed to address the academic and clinical needs of practising intensivists, neurologists, neurosurgeons emergency physicians, anaesthesiologists, internal medicine specialists, surgeons, postgraduate trainees, nursing and paramedical professionals as a whole.

The key note lecture was delivered by Dr.Mathew Joseph, Retired Former professor of neuro critical care at CMC, Vellore on “Why and how a dedicated neuro ICU is important” which was an eye opener in many ways.

Infection, Inflammation and Seizures section included lectures on meningo encephalitis, hospital acquired meningitis and refractory and super refractory status epilepticus was highlighting the importance of timely intervention in these areas of neuro critical care.

Stroke session included lectures on sub arachnoid hemorrhage, hemorrhagic stroke and a panel discussion on acute ischemic stroke which was very informative and provided a detailed collaborative multi-disciplinary approach.

Traumatic Brain Injury session provided excellent current updates on management strategies, recent evidences on TBI and spinal injuries. Panel discussion on brain death diagnosis and organ donation practices was informative and clarified how to overcome practical challenges.

How I approach session on fever in neuro ICU, rapidly coning patient, acute neuro muscular weaknesses provided practical tips to everyone. Supportive care session on nutrition, DVT prophylaxis, delirium, ICU acquired weakness prevention detailed elaborate care of neuro critical care patients to enhance good outcome.

The programme brought together experts from critical care medicine and neurosciences to provide a multidisciplinary platform for discussing contemporary practices in neurocritical care.
